Today I wanted to talk real about spelling instruction by comparing the traditional spelling programs to a differentiated approach.
Check out these 9 key differences:
When we teach with a traditional spelling curriculum, we are teaching to the text. We are following a pre-planned curriculum that's one size fits all and doesn't take into consideration the individual needs of each speller.
When we teach with a differentiated spelling curriculum we take into consideration each individual speller's learning needs. We teach students to apply spelling patterns to words and use those spelling skills in all subjects including reading, writing, language, social studies, science, and beyond.
